Jan 2017 Stamp of the Month - Adore you

This beautiful stamp isn't just for Valentine's! Take a look at these cards I just created ...

Starting with the Kraft card, I wanted a very simple card that could be used for Valentine's, birthday, thank you, or anniversary. I did some dry embossing, stamped the image and colored the centers of the flowers with the new Gold Shimmer Brush. The black and gold ribbon is tied around the card. This is a very soft ribbon so the knot lies flat on the card.

To make the I love you card I hand trimmed the pink scallop paper from the Hello Lovely paper pack. I stamped the floral hearts on White Daisy CS and trimmed each one. After I stamped the sentiment I inked the edges with Slate ink for a border.

The card with the XO background is stamped on a White Daisy CS base with Whisper ink, alternating each stamp with 2nd generation stamping. The sentiment is stamped in Ruby ink and mounted on Ruby CS and added to the card with thin foam tape so it pops.

The thank you card has a more elegant look because of the layering and trimming out of the stamped image. The papers are from the Hello Lovely paper pack. The flowers and leaves are colored with Shinhan alcohol markers. Each of the flower centers has been colored with the gold shimmer brush, but it's a little hard to see in this picture.

The Gold Shimmer Pen is one of Close to My Hearts newest items & I'm sure you'll have lots of fun with it!

Sneak Peak! Hello Lovely

After creating a card for the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge this week I decided to make another card and use the Sea Glass glitter paper for the chrysanthemum. This time I mounted my flower on White Daily CS and layered it with Whisper and Fern CS to match one of the papers in the new Hello Lovely pack that will bee available Jan 1st.

AHSC # 192 - Uptown

This card was inspired by the challenge but once I decided on a shiny card with sparkle I think I got a little off track. The gold and white stripe paper in the Uptown Fundamental paper collection called to me. Then I decided my focus image would be the chrysanthemum from the Flower Market Cricut cartridge. The background of the flower is the velum paper with gold dots. Since I haven't added a sentiment to the front of the card I can easily use this for a birthday card, a thank you card of even a Happy New Year's card.

Here is the sketch for this week. Remember, to visit the AHSC blog to see all of the great creations submitted this week.

AHSC # 185 - Happy Birthday Card

I wanted a simple card with a bit of an elegant look so I choose some papers from the new CTMH Rustic Fundamentals and Uptown Fundamentals. The gold polka-a-dot paper is a velum paper so I used micro glue dots behind some of the gold dots to adhere it invisibly to the Rustic print paper behind it. I scallop punched a piece of the same Rustic paper and stamped the sentiment.
A piece of gold stripe washi tape was the finishing touch.
Please be sure you visit the AHSC blog to see what everyone else has created this week.

Atlantic Heart's Sketch Challenge # 184

For the challenge this week I decided to make a layout. I've mixed papers from a few collections to get the look and colors I wanted for this layout. I have several more pictures from our anniversary trip to Catalina Island to scrapbook still so I wanted an island look and colors from the ocean.
Please take a look at the AHSC blog to see what everyone else has created this week.

And if you'd like to give the challenge a try here's the sketch...

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge # 179

I only have a few minutes of crafting time this morning but I love this week's AHSC sketch and my collection of Halloween leftovers were already on my table, so this is what I made! I was actually going to look for my black sequins but these stickers & scraps just came together for the front of the card and there is even a sticker sentiment inside! So Halloween card #1 for 2016 is done.

Here is this week's sketch...

Swan Lake PML card

To make this card I used one of the PML cards in the Swan Lake paper pack and the Happy Heart stamp set.
Making cards can be simple or fancy! For this card I just used solid cardstock to layer paper and stamped images, trimmed a couple stamped hearts and added sparkles to the swans!
This makes a perfect anniversary card!

Patty

Merry Christmas! AHSC #177

Today's card was super simple! This was my card swap for last week's team meeting & it follows this week's Atlantic Heart's Sketch Challenge!
All I did was stamp images in the corners and cut the sentiment from the new CTMH  Flower Market Cricut cartridge, stamp a sentiment inside and I was done!
Be sure to visit the AHSC blog, there are some really pretty cards from the Design Team! You'll also see my card from last week that made the top 3!

Dare to make something different - you might be a winner!

Last week when I looked at the AHSC sketch I knew I could make a really pretty card, but it was time to make a card for my nephew's upcoming birthday. So instead of a "pretty" card I challenged myself to create something that would appeal to a 20 year old guy - and my card was chosen as one of the top 3 cards!
So take time to create & challenge yourself!
Hugs to all,
Patty

AHSC # 176 Today

This card will be for my nephew's birthday. While I love making pretty cards I also love the challenge of making cards for they guys in my life too. Using stamps to add layers and depth to a project is an art I'm going to practice more.
My card was inspired by this week's Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge, here's the sketch...
Happy crafting!
Hugs to all,
Patty

AHSC #175 Blessed

Here's my card made for the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge this week. I used the Sept SOM and the Oh Deer papers. The sketch calls for an embellishment in the lower corner but I decided to use one of the stamps here instead.

CTMH September Stamp of the Month...Blessed Beyond Measure

Fall crafting is some of my favorite to do! I love the browns & greens & oranges of the season & it's probably my most favorite season of the year. The CTMH Sept Stamp of the Month has a beautiful font with heartwarming sentiments and lots of fall foliage images.

The circle cut on this card was done on the Cricut. The leaves were also cut on the Cricut then stamped, sponged and finally I used the shimmer brush to add the warm glow you see.

This stamp set is only available during the month of Sept so get yours now!

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge # 173 - Hello!

I often feel color challenged when I have to put together 3 or more colors. When this happens I start with one color I really like, then look for the compliments. I think the new Raspberry color is one of my favorites! And I love the new Sea Glass! This card would have a completely different look if the card background were gray or raspberry so when you are using multiple colors be sure you try different combinations for your pieces.
Now please go visit Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge blog to see what others have created with this week's sketch!

Happy Heart

These are some of the new papers from the Basics collections. Today I am playing with the new Sea Glass pigment ink and the Happy Heart stamp set. This is an A size stamp set so that means it's only $6.95. There are 3 sentiments and 2 sizes of hearts. So lots of possibilities!
TIP: Stamping with pigment ink is a little different with each paper type you stamp on. When stamped on White Daisy CS your stamp will be a tiny bit slippery so be sure you take care to avoid smearing the ink. There will also be a little bit of waiting time for the ink to dry. When stamping on the B&T paper the drying time is very short, and when stamping on Kraft CS the ink dries instantly!

Party time!

Today I'll be joining some friends to do a little papercrafting & we always share pot luck items. When I checked the fridge to see what I had I saw the package of string cheese & thought yes!

The perfect decorating opportunity! and quicker and easier than cooking or chopping or shopping!
Want to know how these came together so quick?
  • I cut 12 flowers and 12 leaves from the Flower Market cartridge
  • I embossed a couple pieces of Kraft CS with the wood grain embossing folder
  • Cut the Kraft embossed pieces down to 1 x 3 strips
  • Cut 12 pieces of hemp, 6" each
  • Stamped the leaves with one of the background stamps from the CTMH Cricut collection
  • Sponged the flowers
  • Colored a center in each flower
  • Then I wrapped each piece of cheese with the embossed Kraft CS & tied with hemp
  • Then I used glue dots to attach the leaves and flowers
  • Then back in the fridge
TIP: Instead of searching to find something to be the center of your flowers just color in a center with a Shinhan marker and add a little simmer with the CTMH Shimmer Brush - works every time!

French Flower Market

I had so much fun creating this framed scene! All of the images are cut with the new Close to My Heart Cricut Flower Market cartridge.
I've also used 2 of the new embossing folders to create the wood plank wall and the chevron sidewalk.
The red and white awning is just Cranberry cardstock with White Daisy strips glued on for the stripes!
In this close up you can see the shimmer on the bicycle that was added with the new shimmer brush, you are going to love using this!
And don't forget to add some gems for your finishing touch!

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge # 171

This card was created using cuts from the new Cricut Flower Market cartridge. The micro glue dots are going to be handy for adhering some of the really tiny cuts. The sentiment is one of the stamps that comes in the Cricut collection. I've also use the new sea glass glitter paper for some sparkle!

Be sure you visit the AHSC blog to see what everyone else has created this week!
Here is this week's sketch....

Gift Wrapping...

I love pretty packages! I needed a 3 x 3 x 1 box for this gift, so I used my craft supplies and made my own box!
I incorporated 4 new CTMH products into the design.
The wood slats embossing folder is perfect to use with Kraft cardstock.
I punched some leaves from the new Seaglass cardstock and cut a flower with the new Flower Market Cricut cartridge.
The center of the flower is made with Seaglass Glitter paper.
TIP: If you want your gift to be easy to open, only wrap the twine one direction so it can be slipped off the package.

Close to My Heart just introduced a new Cricut Cartridge - Flower Market!

This pretty bouquet of chrysanthemums is cut from White Daisy cardstock and attached to wire stems. The centers are colored with a marker and highlighted with the shimmer brush.
TIP: to give the flowers some extra volume use glue dots to adhere the layers and don't skip any of the layers!

Colorado

In 2015 our niece Lindsey moved to Colorado with her family and it seems like she posted a picture almost every day on Facebook of one of her kids or a family outing. I saved the photos and printed them to create a scrapbook for her. They are all back in California now & her scrapbook is almost done. If you decide to create scrapbook pages with Facebook photos, be sure you also copy the text posted with the photos so you'll have the complete post including the journaling for your layout.

This is one of those pictures that tells a story all by itself. So I wanted to keep the page simple but interesting. I used one of the new Florance papers for the background and left the zip strip attached at the top. To fill the "white space" below the picture I cut some leaves on the Cricut, I really don't like a lot of "white space" on my layouts even though that scrapbook method is trending right now. I kept the layout colors neutral so the beautiful photo would pop. I also used foam tape to mount the photo on the page. The leaves area attached with tiny glue dots so they appear to be floating on the page.

Thank you Lindsey for allowing me to share your beautiful pictures, we are so glad you are back in California!

Hugs,

Aunt Patty
