AHSC # 218 - Happy 4th of July!

My card doesn't follow this week's sketch perfectly but you can see it's inspired by the sketch. I'm actually not sure if Canada celebrates anything this time of year so to all my Canadian friends Happy Summer and to my American friends Happy 4th of July! Stay safe & have lots of fun!

Cardmaking tip: to attach trim easily use your tiny stapler like it did here.

I hope you'll decide to make something from this week's sketch...

Hugs to all,
Patty

AHSC # 216 - Paris!

Seems every time I decide I need to clean up my room I discover something I'd forgotten about. Today's discovery was this stack of embossed cardstock. I was already thinking about the next design team challenge and this quickly became my inspiration.

I love how this card turned out!
I hope you'll find some inspiration and create something for the challenge this week.
Here's the sketch to get you started...

Don't forget about Dad!

I think Father's Day is sometimes one of the biggest card making challenges.I know for me, every year I want my card to look completely different than previous years. This year was easy with the No Worries papers.
To all the dad's everywhere, Happy Father's Day!
Hugs,
Patty

AHSC # 214 - Congratulations to the Graduate!

This is my 2nd card as a Design Team member for AHSC. I am having so much fun doing this!
I've used Peacock and Glacier cardstock layers to dress up the wood grain paper for this card, it's always fun to use school colors. Please click here to visit the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge Blog to see all what everyone else creates this week.
Hugs to all the graduates!

I've been published!

It was so much fun to find a complimentary copy of the June issue of Stampington & Co Take Ten magazine in my mail yesterday, I never know when I'm being published or which of my cards have been selected. But this time my card is featured as the sketch for the We Challenge You feature! How exciting!

This is actually an ice cream cone wrapper featured on my card. Seems I'm always saving silly things that remind me of a fun day. Small indulgences should be treasured, these silly reminders usually end up on my craft table and sometimes they become part of my art. I hope you take time to indulge yourself, we all need a little joy in our days.

I can't wait to see the cards readers submit in future issues.

Thank you Stampington & Co!

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge # 212

Hello Everyone,
I have joined the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge Design Team and this is my first submission as a Design Team member!
This card was so simple! It's so fun when you have papers and accents that coordinate perfectly. And I didn't even get out a stamp pad! I hope you'll follow my journey with the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge group. I met Michelle Stewart at the Close to My Heart annual convention almost 4 years ago and I have really enjoyed keeping in touch with her and participating in these challenges. I hope to inspire you to submit your own creations every week, just click here to visit the AHSC blog.
Happy Crafting,
Patty

AHSC # 196 - sending Smiles

I'm packed for a crop tomorrow but had some scraps from my last card sitting on my table. I love this shell stamp set but it calls for something like coloring with markers or painting with watercolors and I haven't taken the time for that yet. But I wondered what happens if I stamp on a piece of printed paper? So I gave it a try and rather liked it. Now that my card is together I would make one change, I would switch places with  the Sea Glass colored cardstock and the printed paper. I wanted a weathered look so I sanded the Sea Glass and Cocoa cardstocks with the coarse grit sanding block.

Hope you'll give this week's sketch a try...

Thinking of you...

I've been wanting to create a card with the Swirly Seashells stamp set. My initial inspiration for the arrangement came from this week's AHSC sketch, but it turns out I really didn't follow the sketch at all!

Inspire

In my January1st post below I showed you a leftover 9.5 inch chipboard circle from the Welcome Home Wreath Kit, well here is what I've created with it! I used both the gold and silver shimmer pens on the roses and leaves. The colors are Canary, Glacier, White Daisy, Sweet Leaf and New England Ivy.

AHSC # 194 - Be Happy

For the past couple days I've been trying to decide on a design for a birthday card for my young nephew. I have 3 nephews who all love the color red so red has to be part of all their cards. This set of little stamps has been calling to me too so it was fun to put this all together. If you're looking for some inspiration for the sketch this week click here and take a look at what the AHSC Design Team has created! And I'd like to thank the Design Team for choosing my cards to be in the top 3 the past 2 weeks, I'm very honored.

Here is sketch # 194, it's time for you to create now!

AHSC #193 - Adore You

I love stamping with Desert Sand ink on White Daisy cardstock because it looks like gold. When I'm going to color an image I don't normally stamp the image with a dye based ink but I wanted the gold look for this image. The final gold highlights were using the gold shimmer pen for the tiny leaves and the centers of the flowers.
I hope my card inspires you to create something for this week's Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.

It's January & it's National Papercrafting Month!

This year Close to My Heart has created a beautiful wreath kit to celebrate National Papercrafting month and you can purchase it for just $18.95 or you can earn  free, you'll find out how here!

Everything you need to complete the project (except the adhesives) comes with the kit including a large color instruction sheet and 2 sheets of gold foil letters so you can personalize your wreath. I'm sure you'll be impressed with the quality of everything in this kit. The wreath is 1/4 inch thick chipboard and measures a full 12 " in diameter.

Yesterday I sat down with my friend Lauren and we put our kits together in about 3 hours. Here is my wreath...
I sponged the succulents with sweet leaf and saffron inks and I added some gold shimmer to the roses and greenery. Instead of using the gold foil dots for the centers of the succulents I used gold sequins. I layered my succulents with glue dots for dimension. Everything is adhered to the wreath with Liquid Glass.
TIP:Be sure you leave your wreath laying flat to completely dry before you hang it up.
On of the best parts is there is a leftover chipboard circle or another project!
Products I used in addition to the kit:
Z1795 Quilling Tool
Z2012 Gold Sequin Assortment
Z3316 Gold Shimmer Brush
Z3095 Whisper Thick Twine
Z679 Liquid Glass
Z2089 Micro Glue Dots
1772 Memory Book Glue Dots
Z341 Mini Glue Dots
